We're the people behind Beetil, and we eat our own dog food. That is, we are heavy users of Beetil and all our clients use it too. So it's in our absolute interest that it's the best tool it can be. We're a Wellington based IT company who specialise in developing and operating mission critical solutions in the energy and trading markets. It's imperative that we use a recognised service management framework for the benefit of our our clients who often need to be audited, and for our own sanity. After being unable to find a tool that met our needs we decided to build one ourselves, hence Beetil. We now couldn't do without it, hammering it with over a thousands hits per day.
Great for Agile Development
YouDo's agile approach to development is hugely complimented by the ITIL change management process. Some of our projects and services are so fluid that they would be impossible to keep a handle on without Beetil's change and release management. We've been using Beetil to manage the evolution of Beetil itself using it in the contexts of a service both in development and production.
Staff Offsite and Around the World
All our staff, contractors and clients use Beetil. The open working relationships we have with our clients means that most of them have full access to Beetil so they can fully participate in the change and release management processes. Our staff often work offsite and some are based overseas so having a web based service management system is important. And because not everyone's in the same room, having Beetil as our knowledge base helps us avoid the pain so often felt with geographically disparate teams.
Varied Level of ITIL Knowledge
YouDo has a combination of ITIL certified gurus and staff that have never heard of ITIL before. Beetil is flexible enough to work well with this divergence. New staff are given the briefest of introductions to Beetil before they are able to start using it.
